These DIY clothespin plant markers are so easy to make, and they’re basically free.
Just use a permanent marker to write the plant names on your clothespins, stick a skewer or stick into the pot, then clip the clothespin on. Voila!
I wish I’d had a fine point Sharpie when I was making these, but I wanted to make do with what I had. To make these, I collected some nice-sized sticks from our yard to mount my markers. I think the sticks give it an earthy feel, which goes really well in my DIY garden. Plus, sticks are free!
It will be interesting to see how these hold up to weather. I suspect that the ink on these DIY plant markers is going to fade over time, but they look really cute right now!!
UPDATE: As predicted, the ink totally faded. The good news is that it takes only seconds to re-ink. Or, you can use paint pens for a longer-lasting DIY plant marker.
Have you guys made any plant markers of your own? I’d love to hear how you went about it!
