This watermelon coconut water was my go-to DIY sports drink while I was marathon training in the heat. Running in 90 degree weather takes it out of you, and this delicious combo puts it back!
When I was doing marathon training, I really didn’t want to drink sports drinks if I could avoid them. They’re loaded with added sugars and artificial colors and flavors. Running for me is all about staying healthy, so why would I ruin it with all of those garbage ingredients, right? This DIY sports drink was my solution to that problem!
Folks told me that coconut water was a good sports drink alternative, but on its own, I really wasn’t a fan. Blend it up with some watermelon, though, and you are in business!
Watermelon Coconut Water DIY Sports Drink
- 1 cup watermelon cubes
- 1/2 cup coconut water
Place the ingredients in the blender, and blend until smooth.
