How Kip and Lori Saved the Day
Posted by Becky under Uncategorized

So this afternoon, I was doing some sewing. Suprise! I broke a needle, so I popped open my machine to clean it out. I wish I remembered to clean the thing without breaking a needle but that’s just not how I operate, I guess. :/ Anyways! I cleaned everything out and put it back together and…broke another needle! NOoooooOOOOooo! About 20 minutes later, it became clear that my machine was broken and I had no idea what was wrong.
Because she is amazing, Lori said I could bring the machine over and she’d investigate. I think she could tell I was freaking out. So! She took it apart and cleaned it out even better and narrowed it down to what was wrong: I need a new bobbin case. Yikes. But at least it’s a cheapish fix! While we were googling, it turned up that my machine has bobbin case issues, so I decided to order 2 in case this happens again. Still, that leaves me without a working machine, bc The Internet doesn’t instantly deliver things yet. Boo!
Here is where Kip comes in. I called Kip still kind of freaking out and she said I could borrow her machine!! She was patient while I made sure I knew how to thread it and wind the bobbin and said I could use it until mine was back to working order! She is the greatest!
I am probably the luckiest girl in the world. If it weren’t folks like this, I swear I would just fall apart in situations like this. But somehow I’ve managed to find amazing, helpful friends. Hurrah! I was especially upset that my sewing got derailed, bc I was in the middle of finishing my first contribution to our booth’s new SCIENCE area! Kip’s machine is awesome, though, and I finished it up tonight despite all the delay/panic! Here’s a really awful picture of it:

Pi! Yay! And now it’s time for bed.
