What am I up to?

Green Girl Guide….gone???

Lori just IMed me about the most recent Green Girl Guides newsletter. I am pretty dumbfounded. Here’s what they had to say:

T-Minus Five: Say Goodbye to Green Girl Guide

Say what? Yes, as of June 23rd (sniff) GreenGirlGuide.com will be no more. We didn’t want to say goodbye, but a few months ago National Geographic sent us a cease-and-desist letter because of a perceived conflict between our site and NatGeo’s TheGreenGuide.com (Who knew?) and suddenly, what started out as a side-project for three green-minded women suddenly turned into a David and Goliath story of epic proportions. With no resources to fight the geological giant, we’ve decided to part ways.

What the hell? It makes me doubly sad, bc I really liked National Geographic until like 10 minutes ago. Whyyyyyy are they doing thisssss?

I wonder why they couldn’t just change their name…!

Yea, that’s a good point. Tho…why should they have to?

I do have to agree that they could have just changed their name…yeesh. HOWEVER, in defense of the ladies, why in the world does it matter that they happened to use the same name? I mean are we all going to be confused between the two? I think not.

I get really tired of the obsessive need to copyright and trademark everything. And I’m a writer. That says a lot.

Thanks for the heads up on them.
