I tend to overextend myself. Really, there is only one thing keeping me where I’m supposed to be, on time, and prepared. That thing is my trusty dayplanner.

[My well-loved 2008 Slingshot.]
For the past few years, I’ve been buying Slingshot organizers each December. I like the layout of the pages, and all of the cool doodlings and tips keep me entertained on the train if I forget my book. This year, though, I think it’s time for a change. I forgot to pick up a new Slingshot (maybe I should have written that on the calendar somewhere?) and then today ran across this awesome tutorial on making your very own planner out of trash on greenUpgrader!
Guess who is going to be digging through her recycle bin tonight? They give the option of printing out pages or drawing your own. I might go for a combination….we’ll see how it goes!

Becky, I’m glad you liked the tutorial. The one I made in the article came out much better than I expected. If you make one, send over some pics and we’ll feature it. Btw, this is a great site you have here, I’m psyched I found it!
I was surprised at how easy it was to find enough scrap paper that was usable! It’s a bummer that so much of the paper we trash has to be shredded, because of things like social security and account numbers.
My planner is going to have a bubble mailer cover, and the bulk of the pages are our Travelocity confirmation from our trip to London. Hurrah! I can enjoy that trip all year long! I also discovered that the insides of a lot of security envelopes are light enough to write on and really pretty. It just needs holes drilled and threading, and it will be all done and ready to photograph!
Hmmm this may take a bit longer than I thought, due to an idea I had in the middle of the night! I hope it works!
I like the Otsu Planners cos they work like my brain does. I am going to check out the how-to, tho.
