Composting For Everyone!

My pal Christy and I were talking about apartment composting solutions not too long ago, and it got me thinking! For a lot of folks, starting a bin feels daunting. I was totally intimidated by the idea before we set up our own back yard bin.
A little research turned up a few easy ways to get composting whether you live in a house with a yard or a teensy apartment! I even found an awesome video on starting your own vermicomposting setup that makes me sort of want to start my very own! Read more about easy composting options over at Ecolocalizer!

Lunch Bags! The Book!

Americans will have to go through great difficulties, face foreclosures, repossessions and the fall of their automotive empire, credit and banking system and job markets as a sort of catharsis before accepting the (GRD) great republican depression and the sorrow and mind-bending paradigm shifts it will bring upon them. During the GRD, Americans will be metamorphosed and molded as never before, they will watch all they hold dear, fall to pieces, ideals, moral values, buildings images, all shattered by undeniable realities of their current lifestyles. Post GRD a slim, vegan American will nervously seek out survival methods using the highest tech and knowledge available to him, and skitter over the polluted ruins of the past and grotesque empire, scavenging all that will support his meager lifestyle. When reality hits, it hits harder than a nuclear holocaust, and no military force can save a soul from it. This is what happened to the U.S.S.R. This is what is about to transpire in the U.S.A. Composting is for that future generation of scant bodied survivors, growing their food as they go, and possibly using humanure from Swedish style dry flush toilets as well! It is simply too late for we over-weight, force fed factory prepped children of the eighties – the factories have all moved off-shore, and we still crave Big Macs!
I don’t know , Uncle B. The idea that it’s too late for folks in the U.S. to turn it around seems a little defeatist to me! While of course not everyone is going to take a hard look at how they’re living and make positive changes. And, like you say, skills like this might prove indispensable if the shit hits the fan.
I think there’s hope for the standard Americans that you describe, even in a post petroleum economy. I like to think that folks are more resilient than you’re giving them credit for. Staying optimistic is critical now more than ever, ya know?
Thanks for this link. I’ve always meant to get around to starting a compost bin but I’m been putting it off :)
Fantastical! I’d love to hear how it goes!
