Me. At the end of the day.

I took this picture post-bike ride, post-glass of wine, and in my PJs and hoodie. CONFESSION: If I am not out of my house, there is a good chance I am wearing PJs and a hoodie. Even if there are people over. I was exhausted in the this picture and hungry. I’ve just decided to abandon all elaborate cooking plans and just heat up some leftovers and a potato.

Yesterday, my friend Jess posted a picture of herself first thing in the morning. She explained that:

it seems that much of the time as i’m scrolling blogs i end up feeling “less than” and like i don’t look right or have the right stuff, and like everyone else really has it together and figured out, while i, on the other hand, am a MESS.

OK, first off. Jess is far from a mess. She’s one of the most talented artists I’ve ever met, and she’s one of those people that’s really living her dream. But I know what she means.

I get overwhelmed. I mean…I’d get overwhelmed without a Google Reader full of talented people with genius ideas turning out beautiful art. Factor that in, and sometimes if feels like there’s just no way I’m going to make it. Why would folks care about what I’m sewing and writing when there are all of these perfect people all over The Internet doing it effortlessly?

Or maybe it only seems that way, and they get just as overwhelmed as I do. I love Jess and Michelle’s project, because it’s a reminder that all of those people are…well, they’re people. We’re all just people.

Sometimes, it’s just nice to be reminded.

I would live in PJs 100% of the time, if I could. The goal now is to find clothes that don’t looke like PJs but feel like them!

    I feel this way too!

Although I must admit – when I think of those people “doing it perfectly” you are one of them. I really admire your talent!
