So I’d been wanting to try the New York Times’ no-knead bread recipe but never really gotten around to it. Well! The other night, my friend Becky was telling me about this book Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day by Jeff Hertzberg and Zoe Francois. The basic idea idea is that you make a big batch of dough and then pull off enough to bake yourself miniature loaves whenever you want! It’s genius. Check out the video:
My only problem with the bread in the video is that it’s white bread, and we’re more of a whole wheat bread sort of family. Luckily, there are a bunch of variations in the book, which I might have ordered over the weekend. If I actually follow through and start making bread all the time, it should pay for itself in a couple of months, right? I would love to get comfortable enough with bread-making to start getting a little experimental. This seems like an easy way to get going!
