Inman Park Festival was fantastical as always! My camera’s battery died pretty much immediately on the first day, so I don’t have any parade pictures of my own. Luckily, swfrost’s cameras was working just fine.

The parade this year really knocked my socks off. Sometimes I get down on Atlanta, between our transit woes and water shortages and urban sprawl. This parade really embodies the things that make this city great. Those things are: neighborhoods like mine and like Inman Park and the people who live here.

Check out all these great pictures from Saturday:

Vikings! I’m not sure what this float was about, but it had martini glasses painted on the side.

This fellow has a tattoo of a frying pan on his ribcage, and someone near us asked him about it. He said, “That’s a cast iron skillet, baby! 100%. U.S.A.!” I wish I had a tattoo of a cast iron skillet, so that I could say that! Also, his shorts had “Elvis” printed all the way around the waistband.

Trees Atlanta had a float, including this gigantic treeman! The crazy cheers they got when they shouted about planting trees made me a little misty-eyed, I will admit.

I am so glad someone snapped a picture of this float! These guys were playing some really lovely bluegrass as they went by! The band is Roxie Watson, and I want to hear more!

There was also a float for the Central Fulton Master Gardeners! First of all, I had no idea Fulton county had any gardening groups, let alone several! I am also not 100% certain this is the master gardener float, but these ladies are awesome regardless.

I couldn’t find a photo of my very favorite group that does the parade, and I also can’t remember their group’s exact name! It’s a bunch of dapper gentlemen that wear suits and do choreographed umbrella moves! This year, they had a fellow in a gorilla suit, and a full suit over that, of course! I just love them and their proper umbrellas!

In conclusion, Inman Park Fest was magical as always! Thanks to all of you fine folks that came to visit on both days. You make Atlanta great!
