Americans use 2.5 million plastic bottles per hour. Yes, per HOUR. That adds up to more plastic bottles than I can comprehend. Recycling helps, but it’s not a perfect solution by any means. Instead, why not turn those bottles into something new?
While looking for some recycled bottle projects for Crafting a Green World, I ran across a really simple, ingenius picture on Flickr of planters made from discarded soda bottles. Since the image is copyrighted, I couldn’t use it on Crafting a Green World, so I thought I’d share the link over here instead!
It looks like he just cut the bottle in half, drilled or used a nail to put some holes in the top half, then flipped the top half to nest in the bottom. He says they fit into 4″ pots, which means you can even hide the fact that it’s a plastic bottle, if you’re so inclined! How brilliant is that??

Ooh, that’s a really good idea. I like any simple way of reducing the amount of watering I have to do, especially now that it’s starting to get really hot outside!
