Decatur Green Fest

The 2010 Decatur Green Fest is this Saturday from 3pm-10pm right on the Decatur Courthouse Square!

I hope you can make it out to have a local beer from Terrapin Brewery and check out the awesome musical lineup! Decatur Green Fest includes an artist market showcasing vendors who work with recycled materials. There are also going to be local, organic food tastings from places like Cakes and Ale, 5 Seasons Brewing, and Decatur Organic Market.

Green Fest supports two awesome groups that are working hard to make a difference in the Atlanta area:

Dogwood Alliance works to bring together the voices of thousands of individuals, local and regional grassroots partners, and national and international organizations to pursue win-win solutions that ensure the future of natural and native Southern forests as well as creating financial incentives for positive change by creating market demand for environmentally sound paper products. The Dogwood Alliance has a new Carbon Canopy project that will be presented at the event.

The Decatur Preservation Alliance is a non-profit citizens’ group whose mission is to connect the Decatur community through the preservation of its historic structures and green spaces. Incorporated in 2000 to save the Old Depot, the DPA’s current programs include the Martin Luther King Jr. Service Project, Woodlands Garden and the Decatur Cemetery.

I hope to see you guys out on Saturday! I highly recommend that you MARTA down there – parking in downtown Decatur is tricky business, and the Church Street exit from the Decatur train station lets you out right around the corner from the festival!

  1. Looks like a lot of fun! For those out-of-towners, we still have some vacancies at The Highland Inn.
