at the beach

Summer is just around the corner, and that means hanging out at the beach or heading down to the lake or pool for a dip. You could hit the big box store for all of your summer gear, but isn’t it more fun to stock up with handmade goodies instead?

Not only are these handmade beachy finds more eco-friendly than the mass-produced things you’d buy at the big box store, but when you buy handmade you’re supporting an artist who’s making a living off of her creativity. Plus, when you buy handmade you know that you’re getting something unique and made with love.

eco bikini

I am totally digging this Eco Love Bikini from Meadow. The peekaboo sides are adorable, and even with that detail the bottoms give you a bit more coverage than those itty bitty bikini bottoms that I’ve been seeing at the store. This piece is one of a kind and handmade from reclaimed fabric, too!

recycled sun dress

One of my favorite parts about summer and about heading to the beach is sun dresses, and this recycled, ombre dyed twist dress by EDITclothing would make a perfect coverup for the beach or pool. Even if you’re not at the beach, this would be super cute for a summer picnic at the lake or in the park!

recycled beach tote bag made from a sail

Of course, if you’re headed out with all of that beach gear, you need a bag to put it in. Reiter8 makes all of her tote bags from recycled sails! Yep, when folks get replace the sails on their sailboats, this savvy crafter snatches up the used ones and transforms them into super adorable bags, pillows, and wallets!
