Maple-Basil Mojito Recipe: Your Friday Cocktail

maple basil mojito recipe

Mojitos are such a perfect, summery cocktail, and this maple-basil mojito recipe is deliciously simple to make!

Mojitos are such a summery drink! There’s something about sipping a rum drink on a sunny porch that feels just right. I’ve seen lots of fun variations on the classic mojito recipe and decided to poke around the fridge and the garden to come up with my own. I’m so glad that I did! An old-schol mojito is fun, but it’s also fun to mix it up, right?

Most of the mojito recipes I’ve seen call for straight up sugar or simple syrup, but that didn’t appeal to me for this cocktail. Instead of refined sugar, I decided to grab the bottle of maple syrup, and I’m so glad that I did! The maple syrup really shines alongside the rum, and a generous squeeze of lemon juice brightens up this cocktail beautifully.

I have never been good at growing herbs in pots, but since we started planting them in our garden beds and in the ground, they have been growing like gangbusters! Our rosemary bushes are out of control, the oregano is blowing UP, and our basil is thriving.

When I was stuck for a cocktail recipe for this week, I decided to take a peek at what was doing well out in the garden, and the basil screamed, “Mix me with rum! And drink me with a straw!” So I did. And it was good.

    • That sounds delicious! My friend Jeanee just made one last night that’s sort of similar: vodka, watermelon juice, lime, and mint. So refreshing!
