I try to eat pretty healthy, but when it comes to party food I tend to go for convenience. This vegan sour cream dip comes together in minutes!
My friend Ally moved to Philadelphia a year ago, and I miss her like crazy. She came through town last weekend, and our plan was to sit up watching episodes of Dr. Who and gabbing, so I decided a little party food was in order!
I wanted to make comfort food, because Ally had been on the road all day driving, and because I like to serve party food that kind of smacks of a 1970s shindig without the Jello mold.
My recipe calls for pre-packaged vegan sour cream, but if you want your party food to be a little bit less processed, you can make your own vegan sour cream! This recipe from Whole Foods is cashew-based and super simple, or you can try a tofu-based vegan sour cream recipe. I haven’t made vegan sour cream in ages, though. Do you guys have a favorite one?
I wish that I could take credit for serving the veggies in those cute little teacups, but it’s based on an idea that I saw on a party food board on Pinterest. They served carrot and celery sticks in mason jars! My sticks were a little bit shorter, so I just grabbed tea cups instead. Either way, it’s a festive presentation, isn’t it?
