Craft: 08 Release Party!

That’s right, it’s this very Saturday! ICE and SuperCute! are hosting a release party for the latest issue of Craft: Magazine! Festivities are at the Youngblood Gallery on Saturday from 1-5pm. We’ll have snax, drinks and a fun crafty project for you to try out. See you there!

Oh no! I was really looking forward to seeing Tori as Donna Martin again. Would she play it as goofy Donna from the early College Years? Whisper Donna from late college and the Boring Years? Would she still be married to David, or is she haunted by David Silver Nightmares? We’ll never know now, I guess. Harumph!

Though maybe now they’ll have a space for Ian Zering? I know there were articles that said he didn’t want to do the show, but that sounds like sour grapes to me! Would Steve be a good consolation prize? I’m not sure…

And in case you didn’t click that You Tube video linked up there in the first paragraph, I’ve embedded the it here. It’s not to be missed, I promise!

This morning, Dave said we could do whatever I wanted today. Obviously, what I wanted was to hit up Value Village! In the same plaza as the Moreland Value Village, there is this awesome shop that sells vintage and antique doodads, cast off hotel furniture and other random pieces. I made Dave pull out his iPhone and take a picture of this gem. Memories!

I actually used to go to Backstreet quite a bit when I first moved here. Charlie Brown’s Cabaret was a drag show that went on in one room of this massive, 24-hour nightclub. I liked to go to the Cabaret when I needed a break from the dancefloor, which could get a bit overwhelming when the place was crowded.

Value Village was a huge success! I picked up a ton of pillowcases for Lunch Kits, a completely amazing dress that is just for me, a few skirts that are screaming for a little love, some lovely mugs and plates and 3 sweet little tin pots! The two round ones now have scallions and lettuce in them. The best find of the day, though, was this awesome, rectangular clawed pot that I used to plant some wheatgrass.

Wheat Grass

I know it’s sitting on the kitchen table here, but it’s now living on the front porch. Molly was WAY too interested in the stuff. She had started tearing it up just moments after I left the room! Folks warned me that cats love wheatgrass, but dang! She was rubbing her face on the stuff pretty much immediately! I may pick up another tray of the stuff and pot it on the floor for her.

Or: Cutest Video of the Day!

Check out this awesome video that my pal Joe sent me! It’s a stop motion by PES, and they have a bunch more on their site! My favorite parts are the butter, the cheese and the tomatoes. What are yours?

Here We Are!

We had such a great time! Plan: All Bikes All the Time went pretty well…we only got in the car a couple of times during the whole weekend!

Sunday night, we had a birthday party for my 2 little nephews. They’re so precious! We opened presents, and there was a completely insane cake shaped like Thomas the Tank Engine.

Logan and Jackson's Bday!

The next morning, we stopped for coffee and breakfast at a place on the pier near our hotel, then rode bikes out to Fort Frederica. It was sort of spooky walking around what used to be a big village but was now mostly ruins. There were informative plaques all over the place, which is how we learned about Samuel Perkins. I can’t find anything useful about him, but he was run out of town and I’d love to know why! The plaque about him just mentioned that folks wouldn’t let him tend his orchard and they shot his pigs. Why did all that happen to him?

Right up the block from our hotel was Southern Soul BBQ. They had Dale’s Pale Ale, Terrapin Rye PA and Sweetwater 420 on tap! We first popped by there on Monday night, and they were having an acoustic open mic. I will tell you a secret now: if I first walk in and hear Uncle John’s Band playing someplace, I will probably want to stick around and also visit that place again. We never did eat there, but we sure did stop in every evening for a drink.

Now we’re back, tan and being total bums around the house. Vacation! It was much, much needed.

Biking Saint Simon's Island

Tomorrow, Dave and I are packing up the car with our bags and bikes and heading to St Simon’s Island to spend 4 days in the sun with his family! I was actually looking for a picture of the beach or something when I ran across this bike map of the island. We may not do that whole loop, but who knows? I knew St Simon’s was bikable, but this is really awesome! Have a great week!
