Not only is the space big and [...]]]> Last weekend, I replenished the Lunch Kit supply at Cosmo’s Vegan Shoppe! This was my first time visiting the new space, and if you haven’t been I highly recommend hitting it up! It’s a little bit of a trek for intown folks, but totally worth it. Not only is the space big and the marshmallow selection extensive, it’s right across the street from Marietta’s Value Village!

If you’re into thrifting, you know that those suburban thrift stores are goldmines! See? Now you have two reasons to head up that way! They keep somewhat limited showroom hours, so make sure to check the site before you head up there.

Even if you’re not into making the trek or don’t live anywhere nearby, you can shop for my Lunch Kits and anything else Cosmo’s has in stock on their website!

In other news, my Cup Gloves were featured on Fox 5′s morning show yesterday! Check the screenshot:

The piece was about Clove Salon. Of course, the portion that’s online isn’t the one that includes the Cup Gloves, but it does have interview with two of my favorite local crafters. Check it!

So last night, my galpals Jessie and Michelle came over, and we pulled out my serger! I’m totally intimidated by this thing, even after last night.

So last night, my galpals Jessie and Michelle came over, and we pulled out my serger! I’m totally intimidated by this thing, even after last night.


My Simplicity Serger

I think probably “Simplicity” is not an apt name for this machine. More like “Difficulty” or “Frustration” or “Why does the purple thread keep breaking?” It took us two hours, five tries, a flashlight, a pair of tweezers, and copious amounts of wine and cursing to get it all threaded and set the tension properly. But! Now it’s done! And, according to Jessie and the manual, I don’t have to rethread it for a long time. There is a fancy tying off method where you can change the thread without unthreading the machine. More on that when I have some cones of my own to put on there. The ones in the picture are loaners.

So today, I took off of work to get a bunch of sewing done! A really exciting email showed up in my inbox yesterday afternoon, and now I feel like I should probably make a lot of Lunch Kits by next week. A little vague, I know, but I’ve learned my lesson about jinxing myself! I promise more details when I’m sure there are details to share!

Today is sort of windy and gray, so it’s nice to hole up in the craft room with bad TV and sew like mad! It’s veggie roast weather. Or maybe some sort of crock pot stew?

It turns out I have a couple of shows coming up at the start of February! Hurrah!

Thursday, February 5th is the first KRAFTWORK Handmade Market of 2009 at the Young Blood Gallery and Boutique from 7-10pm. Just a few days later on February 7th, I’ll be setting up at the Academy Theater’s RAD Art Show from 5-10pm. Come out and say hey!

How did I get so sore? I’ve been a crafting machine lately, restocking Lunch Kits and modding out rescued clothes. Here are some of the new Lunch Kits:

There are three shows coming up! First, there’s Kraftwork handmade market on November 6th. Just two days later is the Cabbagetown Chomp and Stomp. The following Saturday, you can hit up the Indie Craft Experience! Whew! It’s going to be a super-fun couple of weeks, for sure!
