You don’t need hours and hours to cook up some healthy, delicious collard greens!

Gourmet magazine’s executive food editor shares a great method for quickly cooking up collard greens, and it’s vegan to boot! You could apply this to any hardy leafy green like kale or mustard greens, too! It also works well with chopped cabbage. Check it:

I love cooking collard greens in the crock pot, but I’ve used this stove top method for all sorts of greens, and it’s great! They’re delicious as a side or in a bowl with tofu and rice or mashed potatoes. YUM!

I normally try to save hot topics (get it? HOT topics?) like global warming for some of the other places I write, but I ran across several articles this week that just felt like they needed sharing.

It’s been a snowy, cold winter here in the U.S., and of course that means lots of jokes about us kicking that global warming problem. The thing is, this was the fourth warmest January on record worldwide. Weather is not the same as climate. While weather looks at conditions tomorrow, climate refers to larger overall trends, and the larger trend is warmer each year.

Joe over at Climate Progress posted this informative video outlining the science behind climate change, and I wanted to share it here, as well:

Spring is so close that I can almost smell it in the air! It’s got me thinking about what to plant when the weather gets warm! I did a little searching and came upon this great video from a Georgia organic farmer’s garden with a bunch of great ideas:

I want to go small, at least at first, so my list isn’t quite as extensive as this fellow’s extensive garden patch. Here’s what I want to grow over the next few months:

I saw this ladder stitch tutorial on CRAFT a while back, and it was so helpful that I thought I’d post it here, too! Leslie Bonnell does a really clear, easy to follow tutorial on this awesome invisible stitch for closing things like pillows and softies:

It took about three or four viewings to fully get what was going on here, but now I’ve totally got the hang of this handy stitch! I love the terms she uses to explain things, like telling you to start the next stitch “across the street” from the previous one. I want to hunt around for more sewing tutorials from her!
