This white Russian recipe uses chai tea for a spiced spin on The Dude’s favorite drink.
Over the weekend sickness made its way through our house. This was the first time that Darrol has really been sick, and it was hard to see that little guy so congested. Of course, Dave and I got sick too, and fighting a cold while taking care of a sick baby is the pits. A chai Russian maybe wasn’t what the doctor ordered, but I really wanted to treat myself after a day of juice, tea, and keeping my snuffly baby boy comfortable. This white Russian recipe just felt like the right thing to do.
Darrol was actually kind of a champ while he was sick. He’d get fussy once in a while, but most of the day he was his same old smiley self, which kind of blew my mind. I am not a good patient, so he must get that from his dad.
Of course, I couldn’t even think about a white Russian recipe without thinking of one of my favorite movies. It took me a long time to find a clip of my very favorite The Dude moment, but scouring YouTube for Big Lebowski clips and making cocktails are sacrifices that I am happy to make for you guys.
I don’t think that this chai Russian is something that Larry would have served up for The Dude at the bowling alley, but I’m still pretty darn pleased with how this recipe turned out. I’m kind of obsessed with chai tea, and this chai cocktail did not disappoint!
Chai Russian: A Chai-Spiced White Russian Recipe
Yield: 2 cocktails
- 1 cup soy or almond milk
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 bags of your favorite chai tea
- 3/4 ounce Kahlua
- 1 ounce good vodka
- Heat the milk in the microwave in a microwave-safe mug until it’s nice and hot. Stir in the sugar, then add the tea bags, and steep for 10-15 minutes. You want to make a nice, strong milk tea.
- Remove the bags, and let the milk cool to room temperature.
- Fill a rocks glass with ice, then add the Kahlua and vodka. Top off with your milk chai, give it all a stir, and serve!
