Refreshing spiked Arnold Palmer pops are a frozen mix of sweet tea and tangy lemonade, perfect for cooling off this summer!
This summer has been a scorcher and a half! I don’t think we’ve had a high temperature below 90 in a month, and when it gets this hot, all I want to do is lounge in the shade with a popsicle. These spiked Arnold Palmer pops are me turning one of my favorite, sweet summer drinks into my favorite summer treat, plus booze!
Considering how hot it’s been this summer, I’m kind of surprised at how few popsicles I made. Especially since we have a Zoku Quick Pop Maker. The Zoku is some kind of magical pop-maker that makes 3 pops in seven to 10 minutes, and you can use it three times before it has to be re-frozen, meaning you can make nine pops in half an hour, or six in 20 minutes. I mean, really. I have no excuse at all for this pop-less summer. And I’m remedying that with these spiked Arnold Palmer pops.
Since these pops are boozy, they took longer to freeze – 20 minutes instead of 7-10, and round 2 took more like 25-30 minutes. They’re totally worth the wait, though!
Of course, you don’t need a Zoku to make these popsicles, but you will need to wait about eight hours for them to freeze instead of seven minutes. The other difference between the Zoku and most other pop molds is that each pop is two ounces instead of three. The recipe below is for six 2-ounce pops. If you have a regular mold, it will make four 3-ounce pops.

Spiked Arnold Palmer Pops
Yield: 3 4-ounce pops or 6 2-ounce pops
- 1 black tea bag
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- juice of 2 fresh lemons
- 1 ounce vodka
- Boil the water, then pour over the tea bag and stir in the maple syrup. Let the water and maple syrup mixture steep for 5 minutes, then discard the tea bag. Add the lemon juice and vodka, and chill your mixture in the freezer for 30 minutes. Freezing the mix is optional, but it does shorten the time you need to freeze your pops in the mold.
- If using a standard mold: Divide the mixture between 4 3-ounce popsicle molds, and freeze for at least 8 hours before serving. For an unchilled mix, up that to 9-10 hours.
- If using the Zoku Quick Pop molds: Fill 3 molds with the chilled mixture, and freeze for 20 minutes. Remove the first round of pops, fill again, and freeze for 25-30 more minutes.
