MorningStar Farms Veggie Chick'n & Cheeze Taquito Bites review

I won't dance around it, y'all: Dave and I loved these! The filling is toothsome and cheesy, and it's a lovely contrast to the crunchy coating.

For me, there was a bit too much breading, but even that didn't hamper my enjoyment. Even with the breading, the flavor and creaminess shone through.

Dave felt like the cheddar was a bit strong in these, but like me and the breading, he didn't feel like it stopped him from loving them.

One thing I definitely recommend -- especially if breading isn't your thing -- is serving them with salsa to dip. The extra moisture is lovely, and the flavors play well together.

Inside the crunchy coating is a big piece of vegan chicken surrounded by seasoned cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.

I kind of think of these as mozzarella sticks, but leveled way up.

    The price

As of this writing, a bag of the Taquito Bites runs between $4 and $5. A bag contains 15 bites, which is three appetizer-sized servings.

    How to cook them

The bag actually includes air fryer directions, but we didn't notice them until after making them. They say to air fry for eight to 11 minutes at 390° F, but I found that 12 minutes at 400° F worked very well.

In the oven, you can bake them at 425° F for 15 minutes.

They include microwave directions, but I would avoid microwaving these. The crispy texture is so key to the experience!

    Where to find them

These are very widely available. I've seen MorningStar vegan taquitos at Target and Kroger here in Atlanta. You can also find them at Wal-mart.

I have not seen these at Whole Foods or Sprouts, so let me know if you spot them there or at any other store I haven't listed here! I'm in the Southeast United States, and I'm sure it varies from region to region.
