Cool off with a sweet, sparkling, tequila watermelon smash cocktail with bright lime, a hint of mint, and a touch of bubble and fizz.

This summer has been a real scorcher, and that calls for refreshing cocktails, preferably sipped on a shady porch. This quick-and-easy watermelon smash cocktail is going to be your new favorite porch drink!
It takes about five minutes to make two watermelon smashes, so you can go from zero to sipping in a flash!
What's a smash cocktail?
Smash cocktails have a long, robust history, but don't let that intimidate you. They're super easy to make!
A smash pretty much is what it says it is: smushed up fruit with optional herbs. Mint is a classic, but you can mix this up as well as what fruit you use.
Top it off with booze and bubbles, and get ready to be refreshed!
Recipe notes
This cocktail recipe only has five ingredients (not counting ice). And, since you make the drinks right in the glasses, there's no shaker to wash when you're done.
The trick to making this drink quickly is to cheat. Don't start with a whole, uncarved watermelon. Sure, you can carve that whole melon into pieces, but this recipe is way, way quicker if you pony up for cut melon. Most grocery stores sell it in the produce section, and it will save you a ton of time.
Since watermelon is so naturally sweet, there's also no added sugar in this recipe.
To start making your watermelon smash, just toss the fruit, herbs, vegan booze and juice into a glass. Then, it's muddling time! Smash them up to release the watermelon juice and the flavor of the mint.
You don't absolutely need a muddler to muddle the watermelon and mint for this recipe, but it does make the job easier. If you don't have a muddler, use the back of a spoon to smash and mash the fruit, mint, and juice.
Top off each glass with ice and soda water. Then, you're ready to throw on some garnish, and get down to some serious summer sipping.
Got extra watermelon handy? How about a refreshing bowl of watermelon fennel gazpacho with lunch?
