A Very Berry Green Smoothie — with mixed berries, sweet banana, and a touch of gingery heat — is a great smoothie to wake you up in the morning or to help you feel better if you’re under the weather.
Mixed Berry Green Smoothie Magic
This sweet-tart mixed berry green smoothie stars frozen blueberries and raspberries, but it gets its amazingly creamy texture from my smoothie super ingredient: frozen banana.
If you’ve never used frozen bananas in a smoothie, prepare to be delighted. They bring an amazing texture to your glass! There’s a reason vegans love using frozen banana as a base for homemade “nice cream”!
The other unusual thing about this green smoothie is that instead of kale or spinach, the green you’re using is lettuce. Lettuce is a lovely “starter green” for smoothies. Since it contains so much water, it blends imperceptibly into your smoothies for super sneaky greens.
The only other ingredients you need are ginger puree (see the video below), flax meal, water, and ice. Blend, and sip!
40 Days of Green Smoothies
This smoothie is one of the revamped recipes from the second edition of 40 Days of Green Smoothies. Have you been wanting to start a green smoothie habit but weren’t sure how to get into the swing? I’ve gotten amazing feedback about this book as a resource for doing just that!
40 Days of Green Smoothies is a 6-week program that helps make green smoothies doable and accessible. It focuses on keeping things affordable by keeping your shopping list short.
Speaking of shopping lists! Each week kicks off with a shopping list, so you will have a stocked freezer, ready to make the week’s smoothies. The smoothies for each week use different combinations of the same small set of ingredients, so you don’t have to invest your life savings in frozen fruit.
