🥤 Homemade Ginger Ale Syrup
Ingredients
For the ginger syrup
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups organic sugar
- 2 cups coarsely chopped ginger leaving the peel on is fine
Instructions
- Combine all of the ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil on medium heat until the sugar is fully dissolved, about 2 minutes, then cover and bring to a simmer over low heat for 45 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat, and let it cool for a few minutes
- Pour the cooled syrup through a fine mesh strainer into a glass container.
Notes
To make the homemade ginger ale: Combine 2 tablespoons of the ginger syrup with 12 ounces of seltzer water. You can also add a squeeze of lime juice, if you like some tang in your ginger ale! Taste and adjust flavor - add more syrup, if it's not sweet enough and more lime, if it needs more tang.
The recipe yields 1.5 cups of ginger syrup, which is enough to make approximately 12 glasses of homemade ginger ale. One serving of the syrup is 2 tablespoons, depending on how strong you like your soda to be.
