We also vowed not to argue about Chex Mix this week. But then we did. But only a little. Don't worry, y'all. We're fine.
Dave talked about his two week vacation, which has been super decadent. He and the kid have been partying, playing video games, and being delightfully lazy.
We also talked about the Theragun that Dave got me for Christmas. Y'all. I'm obsessed. I have been dealing with neck pain for over a year, and in just a few days, it is worlds better. I have been using it daily and am officially obsessed.
Dave is having trouble getting used to it, but I will help him figure this thing out.
I finally used my Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid!
So, maybe six months ago, I purchased an air fryer lid for my Instant Pot. Then, I promptly set it down in my office and forgot about it.
I think that I was a little bit intimidated, as I often am with a new gadget. But I used it to make our dinner finally this week, and it is a dream!
I used it to air fry tofu before making Instant Pot curry tofu soup, and it worked great!
The lid comes with a nonstick inner pot that you place inside the stainless steel pot. It is super easy to use.
We read an Instagram message.

I forgot to mention -- I lived in Brighton UK for a minute and I've been to the Round Hill Pub. Brighton overall is really veg friendly.
I like the Tofu news segment. To-news, rather.
But Brighton and Hove has been and is home to a lot of cool music acts.
I used to work near Millionaires Row, where Adele lives and Paul McCartney had a place with his divorced wife.
Then, I asked her if she had any name ideas for the news segment. If you have one, email us at [email protected]!
You can also use that email address to send us a letter. We love getting letters!
Slutty Vegan opened a shop in Birmingham, AL
This week's news segment is a love letter to an Atlanta burger joint: Slutty Vegan. They just opened their first out of state location in Birmingham, Alabama.
The restaurant is in the Woodlawn community, and we are so excited for our Birmingham friends!
The thing that is awesome about Slutty Vegan is that not only do they make amazing food, but they do amazing work. Pinky Cole is all about supporting the communities where she opens her shops. She donates food and money to all kinds of causes, and she does it often.
We just love her, and we love Slutty Vegan!
My favorite burger from there is Menage a Trois:
- Impossible patty
- vegan bacon (which they make in-house!)
- vegan shrimp
- vegan cheese
- caramelized onions
- lettuce
- tomato
- Slut Sauce
- on a vegan Hawaiian bun
Dave was super jazzed to talk about the vegan Hawaiian bun. We used to love Hawaiian buns and haven't been able to find a vegan one.
Anyway, their burgers are epic. We love Pinky Cole. And we are excited for Birmingham!
A quick movie segment
Remember when we said we'd watch The Net? We did it! We also threw out many name ideas for this segment. I'm partial to Talkin' Me to the Movies. Which one did you like?
I loved it! I thought the premise was excellent. It's basically about a coder who stumbles upon an online conspiracy, and the people behind it steal her identity. They also start killing people, and she has to get her life back.
The movie is a really 90s look at what people feared about the Internet at that time. And looking at it from 2020, it feels simultaneously like an overreaction and a very accurate picture of how hackers could use the Internet to wreak havoc.
It also kind of feels like a more realistic way of looking at the Internet. Now, we have kind of resigned ourselves to giving up our privacy for the privilege of posting pictures of our lunch, but back then the idea of so much personal information just being out there was brand new.
Dave made Oreo truffles.
Y'all, Dave made Lovin' It Vegan's Oreo truffles this week, and I am obsessed! He and the kid worked together on these, and I have been unable to stop eating them ever since!
The inside is a dough that you make from Oreos and vegan cream cheese (Dave used Violife.). You roll that gooey dough into balls and chill them. Then, roll them in melted chocolate.
The filling is rich, creamy, and fudgy. It's a lovely contrast to the chocolate coating.
They are so easy to make, you have got to try them!
Gardein Nashville Hot Chickenless Tenders
A couple of days before recording, we were cleaning the house and needed a quick dinner afterwards. Dave suggested these, and I am so glad!
He had his on a hoagie, pictured above, with lettuce, mayo, pickle chips, and the Gardein Nashville Hot Chickenless Tenders.
I wasn't as hungry, thanks to a super late lunch, so I had mine sort of like a salad? A bed of lettuce with the tenders and pickles and a side of tahini ranch dressing to dip everything in. Tahini ranch dressing recipe is coming soon!
Y'all, these tenders were hot! Nashville hot is supposed to be super spicy, and Gardein achieved it. They were great on a hoagie, and I loved them dipped in cool, creamy ranch.
I also associate a little sweetness with Nashville hot, which these didn't have, but Dave doesn't think that sweet edge is a requirement.
Either way, we are fans of these! Dave said they are his favorite Gardein product yet. That's high praise!
Gardein has really nailed the breaded vegan chicken thing. I mentioned again that I wished there were a good, vegan chicken breast, which reminded me that our friend, Leigh, has recommended one! She says that Delight Soy Patties are excellent. We are on the hunt!
