At Target last week, Dave grabbed all three savory varieties of Target's new Good & Gather Plant Based Dip & Spread. We ate them with crackers and pretzels all weekend!
Let's go through them in the order that we ate them.
Everything Bagel Seasoned Dip & Spread
The everything bagel dip was light and creamy and not too salty. The package pictures it spread onto a bagel, which Dave and I agreed would not be ideal. It had a consistency closer to sour cream than cream cheese.
As a dip, though, it's lovely. All of the amazing onion-garlic-sesame-poppyseed flavors shine through in this dip, which we will definitely get again.
Pizza Flavored Dip & Spread
This was hands-down our favorite of the three. The pizza dip had a thicker texture than the everything bagel or the French onion. We were both fans of this texture.
With crackers, it was good but on the salty side. The magic comes in when you dip a pretzel into it.
Y'all, it tastes like a pizza Combo, and it is a revelation. Just typing this out, I need to take a break to dip a pretzel.

...and we're back!
French Onion Dip & Spread
The last dip we tried -- and our least favorite of the three -- was the French Onion dip.
I just found it bland, even when I tried some on its own. There was no detectable onion flavor for me. It was also incredibly salty. The texture was nice, and I could see it working as a topping for a baked potato or beans and rice.
Dave was a little bit more into this dip. He said that on a pretzel, he could taste the onion. But he also agreed that it was only okay and the least exciting of the three.
Queso Dip & Spread
Update (4/15/2022/): We've now tried the Good & Gather Cashew Queso! Here are our thoughts on this one.
Dave and I found this cashew-based queso oddly "fluffy and floppy." It had that somewhat gelatinous texture that comes from being thickened with gums, if you can imagine that.
The texture was just a bit artificial feeling, though it wasn't as gummy as some thickened dips and spreads we've tried.
Flavor-wise, I enjoyed this. It was tart and spicy, just like buffalo sauce. Dave felt like the heat hit him differently from buffalo sauce, though, and he found it a bit disappointing.
If you're looking for a dip with a cheesy flavor, this isn't it. Neither of us could taste anything cheesy about this dip. I think the texture was meant to be cheesy.
Overall, this one was a miss for us. I much prefer my buffalo almond dip or blender cashew queso to this one.
Have you had any of these dips? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
