You only need three ingredients and about five minutes to make this sweet maple glaze for donuts, scones, vegan cinnamon rolls, or any baked goods you like!

Maple doughnuts are my absolute favorite. But what I recently realized is that what I'm responding to isn't the donut. It's the maple glaze itself.
I originally developed this maple glaze recipe to top my pumpkin spice vegan scones, and it's so versatile! Drizzle it onto donuts, scones, tea cakes, or anything that could use a little maple flavor.
Drizzle it onto your baked goods while they're still warm, allow it to harden, and serve!
Recipe notes
You can make this maple glaze on the stovetop or in a small mug or bowl in the microwave. Either way, it's very quick and easy!
To make it on the stove, combine vegan butter with maple syrup in a small saucepan. Heat on medium to melt the butter, and mix it together with the maple syrup. Turn off the heat, whisk in powdered sugar, and you are ready to glaze all of the things!
In the microwave, you just combine the vegan butter and maple syrup in a microwave-safe mug or small bowl. Heat for 30 seconds to a minute and a half to melt the butter, then mix well. Whisk in the powdered sugar, and glaze those donuts/scones/etc!
As the glaze cools, it hardens beautifully.
If you make your glaze too soon before your baked goods are ready, it can harden. No worries! Simply whisk vigorously with a fork, and it will smooth out.
You can also warm it back up on the stove or in the microwave very briefly, just to soften it. It doesn't need to boil -- just warm a bit so you can get a smooth mixture again.
This recipe makes a small batch -- just enough for eight scones or eight to 10 donuts. If you need more, you can double, triple, quadruple, etc. No problem at all!
You can also cut it in half. For a batch of eight cinnamon rolls, I only needed a half recipe of maple glaze to cover them generously.
How to store and serve it
If you do have leftover glaze, it will keep in the fridge for a few days. Just warm it up and whisk to smooth it out before using.
Use this glaze to top:
- vegan scones
- vegan cinnamon rolls
- vegan donuts
- air fryer donut holes
- cakes
- cookies
Basically any baked good with flavors that jive with maple are begging you to top them with this glaze!
