KIND Frozen Treat Bars review
KIND Frozen Treat Bars are plant-based ice cream bars inspired by KIND's granola flavors.
This is the second KIND Frozen dessert that Dave and I have reviewed on the pod. If you want to know what we thought of the KIND Frozen Pints, we did an episode on that over the summer.
The long story short on this review is that we loved these! They reminded us both of frozen Snickers bars. Creamy ice cream. Bittersweet chocolate. Crunchy nuts. Gooey caramel. It was all there, but no animals were harmed!
While these are lower sugar than most ice cream bars -- vegan or otherwise -- out there, I didn't miss the extra sugar at all. The flavor was lovely, and I just thought that the texture was perfect.
The layers all played well together, and they achieved a really good balance of creamy-crunchy-gooey.
What I also enjoyed about these is that the almonds (and the fiber) made them a bit filling. That made them more satisfying and helped avoid the sugar crash I usually get after eating a sweet treat like this.
I honestly didn't expect to enjoy these as much as I did, and I can definitely see them becoming a regular dessert in our house. Even the kid, who doesn't like almonds, loved these bars!
Since publishing this episode, we've also tried the KIND Frozen Peanut Butter Treat Bars, and those are incredible, as well! They don't taste like a frozen Snickers, like the almond flavor does, but they're sweet, chewy, creamy, and satisfying.
Honestly, you can't go wrong with either of these flavors. We are obsessed.

Have you seen these bars in other stores? Let us know, and we will add to the list!
Are they healthy? What are the ingredients?
Asking if an ice cream bar is healthy might seem a little silly, but since KIND is only recently branching out from healthy(ish) granola bars, it makes sense that people would want to know whether they were healthy.
Healthy is a pretty relative term, so let's dive into what I look for when making this call: ingredients, salt, sugar, and fiber content.
Almond Sea Salt KIND Frozen Treat Bar ingredients:
almonds, water, sugar, chicory root fiber, chocolate processed with alkalo, coconut oil, tapioca syrup, cocoa butter, peanut oil, palm oil, peanuts, salt, soy lecithin, sea salt, gum acacia, natural flavor, tara gum, guar gum
As ingredients lists go, not too shabby! Let's dive into the salt/sugar/fiber of it all. One Dark Chocolate Almond Sea Salt frozen bar contains:
- 3% of your daily sodium
- 8 grams if sugar
- 7 grams of fiber
Compared to a lot of dessert options out there, this is pretty stellar, especially the amount of fiber!
I looked at a few other vegan ice cream bars, and the amount of sugar seems to fall in the 12-15 grams range, on average. KIND is way below that.
The amount of sodium is comparable to the other vegan bars I looked at, but the fiber is much higher. Vegan ice cream desserts tend to have one to two grams of fiber. Eight is substantial!
So, are KIND Frozen Bars healthy? I'd say that for a given value of healthy, sure! It's not as healthy as eating an apple, but next to other sweet treats, it definitely is.
